Splash Pad at Iron Horse Park is Now Open to the Public

July 30, 2025 at 1:43 p.m.

The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department has announced the completion of the new splashpad at the Iron Horse Park.  The splashpad is located between the Iron Horse Depot and the Little Turtle Waterway Gateway Arch.  The splashpad will be available regularly during the Farmer’s Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and during downtown’s special events.  Consistent hours will be adjusted according to public /seasonal demand.

Feel free to take advantage of the splashpad during this weekend’s Security Federal Block Party on Friday evening, and the special visit by Butch Patrick/”Eddie” from The Munster’s on Saturday.

The splashpad is free and open to the public. A ground level touch pad is to be used to activate the water jets. The Iron Horse Depot’s family-style restroom is open, using the door facing Melbourne Avenue. Several benches are available, but splashpad users might prefer to use their own portable chairs. Those using the downtown splashpad are required to follow these rules:

    Children must have adult supervision

Children not toilet trained must wear swim diapers.

Splashpad Hours will change according to the season.

No lifeguard is on duty. Use at your own risk.

At the first sign of thunder or lightning, vacate the splash pad and seek a fully enclosed shelter. Remain indoors until at least 30 minutes after the last sign of thunder or lightning.

The following activities and items are not permitted in the splash pad area:

o    Running, rough play, and profanity

o    Inflatable pool toys, athletic and other recreation equipment

o    Food, candy, gum, beverages, and glass containers

o    Soaps, detergents, and shampoos

o    Animals, except service animals

o    Changing diapers

o    Radios and other acoustical devices

o    Skateboards, skates, Razors®, rollerblades, scooters, bicycles, and similar recreation equipment

o    Smoking, drugs, or alcohol

Visitors to Iron Horse Park will also find that the game court now includes access to “Rent Fun” lockers where you are able to rent cornhole bags and/or ping pong paddles and balls for $2/per hour.  A smart phone and a credit card are required to establish an account and to photograph the return of equipment.  A $15 holding fee (like a refundable deposit) is posted to your credit card until verification of the return of your equipment.

During construction of the Farmer’s Market Pavilion on 4th & Market, the best way to access Iron Horse Park and the splashpad is to park on Melbourne Avenue near The Depot or the city parking lot to the east of the park. It can also be accessed on the west sidewalk along 4th Street.
