During the Corona Virus COVID-19 pandemic, the Logansport Parks & Recreation Department has made recommendations for responsible behavior that benefits all when using the trails and green spaces in the parks:

  • When walking a dog, remember to bring a waste bag to clean up afterwards.
  • Do not use parks or trails if you are exhibiting symptoms.
  • Follow CDC’s guidance on personal hygiene prior to visiting parks or trails.
  • Remember that the park restrooms and drinking fountains are NOT open. You should bring your own drinking water, and take care of yourself prior to leaving home.
  • Share the trail and warn other trail users of your presence as you pass.
  • Observe CDC’s minimum recommended social distancing of 6 feet from other persons at all times.

As of April 6, the Dykeman Park Municipal Golf Course is closed. Those that decide to use the course, will use it at their own risk.  No tee times, carts, or restrooms will be available until further notice.

All indoor facilities are closed to the public. This includes the McHale Complex, the Penman Service Center, and the Welcome Center. No rentals are taking place at any of these facilities through the end of April.  “May” rentals will be addressed in the coming weeks.

Playgrounds are closed. Swings have been removed. Regarding the outdoor pavilions, picnic tables, benches, basketball courts and ballfields, these facilities are closed. The public is reminded that someone with the virus may contaminate these facilities & equipment. Park Staff are no longer sanitizing the equipment. Those that decide to use this equipment and facilities, will use it at their own risk.

The Parks Staff are grateful to the public for their help to take care of the parks during the COVID-19 restrictions.

For the safety of our own employees, Park Staff are operating skeleton office and maintenance crews. Those with questions may contact the Logansport Park & Recreation office at 574-753-6969 or parksinfo@cityoflogansport.org for further clarification.
